Literary work ofBelgorodian „Grandad Rus Alexander” in emigration in Serbia

One of the most prominent cultural figures among Russian emigrants of the first half of the 20th century living in Niš was Alexander Petrovich Kurchaninov – Russian Grandad Alexander (Grandpa Rus) as he called himself. As a working assistant to the librarian of the National Library of Niš in the period between the two world wars, Grandpa Rus made a significant contribution to the cultural life of the second-largest Serbian city. His memories and testimonies of mutual assistance of the Serbian and Russian people in the period of the most difficult trials in the late 19th and the beginning of the 20th century remain extremely important even today, and represent a valuable source for the study of Russian-Serbian cultural, political, military and other relations. Therefore, with this article we would like to draw attention to the already forgotten literary works of Alexander Petrovich Kurchaninov, which may be useful for further research. Of particular interest is the fact that Kurchaninov creates his works relatively far from the traditional centers of Russian emigres, such as Belgrade, Prague, Berlin, or Paris, but his works are not less important because of this. Special actuality in the field of research of Russian emigre legacy in Serbia represents the very local character of his creativity.
