Theoreticism, Aestheticism, Historicism: new interpretation of critical part of M.M. Bakhtin’s ‘Toward a Philosophy of the Act’

The article proposes a hypothesis that in his work "Towards a Philosophy of the Act" M.M. Bakhtin criticized not only theoreticism and aestheticism, but also historicism. The hypothesis is supported by two arguments – an argument from the text of Bakhtin's work and an argument from the logic of Bakhtin's reasoning. A reconstruction of Bakhtin's criticism of historicism is being carried out. The article reveals the main properties inherent in historicism, according to Bakhtin, the advantages of historicism and its shortcomings. It is shown that W. Dilthey should be considered the main representative of historicism in Bakhtin’s understanding.
