This work highlights the Kharkov period of activity of the philologist, specialist in ancient Philology, researcher of ancient Greek literature Alexey Derevitsky. In particular, it analyses his work at the Department of Theory and History of Arts of Imperial Kharkov University and in the drawing school of Maria Raevskaya-Ivanova. The authors provide a brief overview of his doctoral dissertation “On the early historical and literary activities in Ancient Greece” and compile a bibliography of the writings of Alexey Derevitsky. On their basis the analysis of the scientific publication activity of the scientist is done. His gift inscriptions on books from the collections of the largest Kharkov libraries are studied, the contribution to the development of the Kharkov Public Library (now Kharkov State Scientific Library named after V.G. Korolenko) is shown.
