It was found out that the value orientations of a city dweller are associated with greater opportunities for self-development and self-realization. It is shown that the adaptation to the city socio-cultural space is complicated by a number of factors that influence the emotions, behavior and other mental manifestations of individuals. It was drawn a distinction between the city dwellers and rural positioning and world perception of self and others. It was evident that the process of incorporation into the system of the city is accompanied by a range of experiences and changes of the anthropological status and a constant "search for themselves." There were proved positive and negative characteristics of an individualistic style in the city, the impact of autonomy, anonymity and isolation, on the one hand, and the effect of various subcultures, on the other hand.</p>
<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The existential and anthropological status of the person in the city is presented on the analysis of spatio-temporal, socio-hierarchical and cultural aspects.
