The article analyses the events of August, 1991 in Moscow with the use of Maidan theoretical model. The latter is understood as the protest of the organized active minority which is gathered in capital city (usually on its central area), acts on behalf of people and dethrones the existing political mode. Maidan is considered as an obligatory element of "color revolutions”. The paper tells about the role of external forces in the organization of Maidan. The general lines “Kiev Maidan 2013-2014” and “Moscow 1991” come to light. The defeat of the USSR in the Cold War is considered as the defeat in information and psychological war. For Russia it is important to form the ideology which measures up the calls of a modern epoch and raises the competitiveness of the country in global rivalry of countries and regions. The aspiration of the West to organize a new Maidan in modern Russia is shown. The author draws a conclusion about the necessity to exclude the renewal of events of August of 1991 in Russia.
