The article analyzes various variants of realization of dialectics as mediation, transformation, and search for the future. Methodologically, the article is based on the Hegelian principle of dialectical mediation and the representation of ideas presented in «The Science of Logic», «Encyclopedia of the Philosophical Sciences», and «The Phenomenology of Spirit». The result of the research is a critical review of the understanding of dialectics and its potential by representatives of neo-Marxism and postmodernism. As a result of the research, it is suggested to read «Logic» as thinking, which generates certain mistakes and illusions. It allows to take into account the criticism directed against the principle of totalization through the concept of "withdrawal" and to reactivate such principles of dialectics as revealing the contradiction of a phenomenon or meaning.
