It is shown that a lack of understanding of the realities of national life has led to a number of serious omissions that prevent the novel from gaining popularity among Russian-speaking readers. The study shows the extent to which ethnocultural comments in literary translation are important, for they serve the correct understanding of the essence depicted in the work, thereby contributing to the fulfillment of a true aesthetic event that brings people and cultures together, leads to mutual understanding and mutual respect between them.</p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The article deals with the problem of recreating national identity based on two translations of the novel &amp;ldquo;Past Days&amp;rdquo; by Abdullah Kadyri into Russian.
