The article analyzes the work of the Perm artist, sculptor, human rights activist Rudolf Vedeneev (1939-2018) with the help of formal-stylistic and semiotic methods. The artist, convicted under Article 190.1 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR, served his sentence in a corrective labor camp for three years. After being released the artist devoted a significant part of his work to reflection on the period of political repression, a turning point in his life, to reflecting the inner state of a person in conditions of lack of freedom.</p>
<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The art of the repressed is a relatively new and little-studied concept in scientific discourse, meaningfully referring to the history of Russia in the 20th century.
