The study of confessional political doctrines within the framework of political science of religion, is becoming an important task for modern Russian religious studies. The researcher turns to political theology of Orthodox Christianity to conduct a comparative study of political positions of the two main players in modern Orthodoxy. The article presents the analysis of the approaches of Constantinople and Moscow to such problems as the state, state-confessional relations, civil disobedience, and freedom of conscience. The comparative analysis has revealed the difference between the positions of the Patriarchate of Constantinople and the Russian Orthodox Church on a number of acute political issues of our time.</p>
<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The article analyzes the Orthodox view of current political problems presented in the social doctrines of the Patriarchate of Constantinople and the Russian Orthodox Church.
