A new book by the literary historian, literary critic Natalia Alexandrovna Gromova “An Otherworldly Friend. The love story of Lev Shestov and Varvara Malakhieva-Mirovich in letters and documents”, which was published in 2021 in the Moscow publishing house “AST”, as the name implies, sheds light on the relationship between the philosopher and the poet, critic, children's writer Varvara Grigorievna Malakhieva-Mirovich (1869-1954). Following the author-compiler of the book, who gives comments on diary entries and letters, the author of the proposed review tries to find the strokes connecting the personal experience of the thinker with his philosophy.
