Its ancient capital Cherdyn is of great importance for the centuries-old history of the Kama region. Founded in the middle of the 15th century, Cherdyn was the first Russian town in the Urals and the ancient Orthodox monastery of Perm saints: Gerasim, Pitirim, Iona, who baptised and converted Permian Komi and Komi Zyryans to the Orthodox faith. The materials preserved in Perm and Cherdyn archives and local history museums, starting from the middle of the XVII century, are of scientific value for scientists who study the ancient history of the Finno-Perm peoples. The aim of the article is to try to consider some aspects of the history of Cherdyn and settlements of Cherdynsky uyezd through the prism of historical sources, sketches, descriptions of scientists and researchers. These documents give an idea of the life of the local population during the period of Russian colonisation of the Perm lands, and highlight the historical peculiarities of the Christianisation of Perm the Great.</p>
<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The year 2023 marked the 300th anniversary of the foundation of the city of Perm.
