Attention is drawn to the difficulties of interpreting religious concepts and expressions of sacred meaning in narratives and explanations accessible to a wide readership. The article analyzes this problem from a hermeneutic standpoint. The analysis is interdisciplinary in nature at the intersection of religious studies, theology, and communication studies, which allows us to identify some phenomena that could previously remain unnoticed. The work examines three federal media outlets from the secular press category that regularly cover the life of the Russian Orthodox Church in their resources (Kommersant, RIA Novosti, and TASS). Particular attention is paid to the linguistic and hermeneutic aspects of the description of the Christian sacraments of the Eucharist and baptism. The author comes to the conclusion that the representation of doctrinal aspects in the media is a very difficult task, requiring journalists not only to know religious subtleties, but also to be able to express sacred meaning in accessible language. The study reveals the hermeneutic nature of the inexpressibility of the meaning of the Christian sacraments of the Eucharist and baptism, the comprehension of which is possible only through personal participation in the practical experience of religious life. The article raises the issue of the need to find new approaches to covering aspects of religious life in the media. It is necessary to approach the choice of words and expressions when describing religious phenomena as carefully as possible in order to avoid distorting their meaning.</p>
<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>The article examines the problem of representing the doctrinal aspects of Orthodox sacraments in the media.
