This creates the need to create a new concept that integrates modern approaches to sustainable development, environmental protection and social adaptation of the population. This article proposes the concept of an ecological-evolutionary continuum, which describes the complex process of interaction between man and nature through the prism of the evolution of social institutions and cultural norms.</p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>Modern Russia faces a number of fundamental challenges generated by the need for sustainable development, ecological balance and biodiversity conservation.
