The article presents the intermediate results of the extended re-archiving of source material on the Bakhtin family tree. The main goal of the article is to organize a holistic approach to the process of reconstructing the Bakhtin family tree. The source material is represented by archival materials from the 17th and 18th centuries. Due to the complexity of interpreting the source register, the author deliberately does not draw final conclusions based on the processed and described materials, which, despite their significant volume, are currently insufficient for the final result and serve as an intermediate stage of the research. This situation of &quot;hermeneutics of distrust&quot; towards the source complex directly concerns the issue of correcting published and newly discovered archival materials.
