There is currently a growing interest in church microhistory. Research in this area has its own specific features. Each historical period is reconstructed based on particular sources. This study covers the modern period, which includes the closure of the parish, the destruction of the church, the post-war revival of the parish, its second closure, and another revival with the construction of a new church. To recover the forgotten history of the church and parish in the village of Bogatoye, documents were used, many of which had not been examined before. This makes the research novel. An integrated approach and synthesis of materials from various sources allow for the reconstruction of a complete picture of the history of the Church of the Ascension at all stages of the modern period – from its closure to its full revival at the present time. The study serves as an example of writing church microhistory of the modern period.
