The goal set out in this paper is to analyze systematically all the pre-revolutionary creativity of Directors of the Institute.
The methodological basis of the research was the continuous monitoring and content analysis of all available editions of The Journal of the Ministry of Education, Circulars of Vilna and Kharkov school districts, as well as a deep search on the Internet using Google Scholar and Google Books.
Results of the study include the identification of the four directors of BTTI, whose creative activity was described in various essays, as well as clarification of the chronology of all BTTI’s directors job. 
The main contributions of the four directors of the BTI in science and education are formulated in tables.
