The significance of the essays’ theme is connected with the celebration of the 140th anniversary of Belgorod State National Research University in 2016 and with the lack of systematic research on the history of pre-revolutionary Belgorod Teachers' Training Institute (BTTI). The goal set out in this paper is to analyze systematically all the pre-revolutionary creativity of Directors of the Institute. The methodological basis of the research was the continuous monitoring and content analysis of all available editions of The Journal of the Ministry of Education, Circulars of Vilna and Kharkov school districts, as well as a deep search on the Internet using Google Scholar and Google Books. Results of the study include the identification of the four directors of BTTI, whose creative activity was described in various essays, as well as clarification of the chronology of all BTTI’s directors job. The main contributions of the four directors of the BTI in science and education are formulated in tables. It is proposed to immortalize their names in Belgorod during the celebration of the 140th anniversary of Belgorod State National Research University.
