Автор исследует особенности языковых картин мира посредством изучения вертикального пространства и его выражения в языке. Актуальность данного исследования состоит в том, что категория пространства недостаточно изучена во фразеологии, хотя данная категория является одной из важнейших при рассмотрении языковой картины мира. Статья посвящена сопоставительному изучению фразеологических единиц с лексическим компонентом «верх» в английском и немецком языках. В статье описываются основные значения фразеологизмов с данным компонентом, даются характеристики по положительному и отрицательному статусам, также автор делает сопоставительные выводы по проведенному исследованию. Автор приходит к заключению, что фразеологизмы с лексическим компонентом «верх» описывают не только положительные значения, но и отрицательные, что противоречит традиционной картине мира, связывающей «верх» с положительной оценкой.
The author explores the features of linguistic pictures of the world through the study of the category of the vertical space and its expression in the language. The relevance of this study is that the category of space is not sufficiently studied in phraseology, although this category is one of the most important when considering the linguistic picture of the world. This article is devoted to the comparative study of phraseological units with the lexical component “up” in the English and German languages. The article describes the basic meanings of phraseological units with this component, gives characteristics on the positive and negative statuses, also the author makes comparative conclusions on the study. The author comes to the conclusion that the phraseological units with the lexical component “up” describe not only positive values, but also negative ones, which contradicts the traditional picture of the world associating “up” with a positive assessment.
