SPECIFICS OF NATIONAL MUSICAL CREATIVITY OF KOSOVO AND METOHIJA AND THE IMPORTANCE OF ITS USE IN PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHING OF MUSIC CULTURE

The paper uses analytical methods to discuss the specifics of national musical creativity of Kosovo and Metohija, as well as the educational significance and meaning of its use in primary school teaching of music culture. It examines the specifics of traditional folk songs and dances, as well as traditional musical instruments typical of this area. It points to the possibility and the need to use the contents of musical folklore of Kosovo and Metohija in the teaching process. When carefully selected and used in the classroom, these contents can be the foundation on which a teacher can confidently build a sense of national belonging, educate musical taste and foster ethical values. The use of musical folklore of Kosovo and Metohija has enormous pedagogical and national significance in working with students who live in enclaves in the province of Kosovo and Metohija. By applying its contents in the conditions specific to the life of the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija, pupils form notions of continuity and rootedness of the Serbian entity and tradition in this environment, developing a sense of belonging to the state and nation, patriotism and love towards the homeland. Thus we provide a strong moral support to the Serbian population living in the province, strengthening their will and the desire to stay and survive in these areas. The paper lists ethnomusicological and musical-pedagogical literature suitable for use in elementary school, which deals with national musical creativity of Kosovo and Metohija.
