Religious communities in the media space: information initiatives of the Marfo-Mariinsky sisterhood of mercy (Belgorod)
The article offers the results of studies on the specifics of the Orthodox media sphere in Russia, and reveals the directions of the press service of the Martha-Mariinsky Sisterhood of Charity (Belgorod). Media is an important source of informational interactions in religious communities. For more than twenty years, the sisterhood press service has been promoting the idea of mercy in the media. The press service of the Sisterhood disseminates reliable information about the Orthodox faith, informs the residents of Holy Belogorye about the activities of the Sisterhood, planned events, and attracts volunteers. The Marfo-Mariinsky Sisterhood of Charity is represented on modern social networks (Instagram, Odnoklassniki, VKontakte, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter), has its own website and publishes the journal Virtue. Sisters of Mercy write books, perform on radio and television.
