Showing timeless phenomena of the Russian statehood in the story “Day of the Oprichnik” by V.G. Sorokin
The novel by V.G. Sorokin “Day of the Oprichnik” is considered as an integral artistic statement about Russian statehood. The constitutive features of Russian statehood described in the story were highlighted: totalitarianism, love of power, impunity, lawlessness, isolationism and the right of the strong. V.G. Sorokin's view of the Russian state and society is subjected to critical analysis from the point of view of social sciences. The article examines how serious social scientists find the author's message.
