Effectiveness of bibliographic information (humanitarian and methodological aspects)
The article discusses the need to transform the traditional functions, directions and forms of bibliographic services of libraries in accordance with changes in information technology. Specialists of central regional libraries note that selective dissemination of information (SDI) is a popular form of bibliographic information. The main advantages of selective dissemination of information are: feasibility on any topic; maximum completeness, efficiency and regularity of bringing bibliographic information to users; availability of constant feedback from subscribers, which allows you to evaluate the quality of the bibliographer's work and the effectiveness of bibliographic information; the ability to provide users with primary documents or copies thereof. Meanwhile, in the practice of libraries, insufficient attention is paid to the modernization of the SDI, in particular, the automation of the search for relevant information for subscribers of this system. The problem field of bibliographic services of central regional libraries considered by the author of the article allows to identify the main tasks for the development and modernization of SDI in these libraries. The possibilities of automated search in the SDI system in comparison with manual search are analyzed. The problem points hindering the automation of SDI in central regional libraries are identified – first of all, there is a lack of financial resources and human resources. Recommendations on the introduction of the SDI system automation procedure are given.
