Using gamification techniques in modern regional internet journalism

Gamification is the latest method of information representation in modern media. Gamification refers to the use of gaming techniques in non-gaming media contexts. Gamification is part of a multifaceted phenomenon – infotainment, which implies a combination of information and entertainment components in a journalistic media product. Provided that a balance is maintained between the use of entertainment techniques and the informational component of a journalistic text, gamification works to increase the effectiveness of media material. In this article, the authors highlight the signs of gamified journalistic material: the presence of repetitive activities, goals and progression, stimulation, creation of difficulties or restrictions, the possibility of observing game processes. The study of gamified practices is based on regional empirical material – Belgorod Internet media.
