The problem of defining the conceptual boundaries of the phenomenon of epistemological relativism
The article considers the main ways of conceptualizing the phenomenon of epistemological relativism in modern philosophy. Two traditions are singled out in assessing the functions and methodological prospects of epistemological relativism: radical-critical and positive-constructive. It is shown that the axiological load of the interpretation of the phenomenon of epistemological relativism determines its content within the framework of each of these approaches: critics and supporters of relativism often talk about meaningfully different "relativisms". It is argued that the division into extreme and moderate relativism is critical to understanding such heterogeneity in defining the conceptual boundaries of the phenomenon.
