Biblical expressions in V. I. Dal’s Explanatory Dictionary of the Living Great Russian Language: integral meanings

This article focuses on the realisation of a linguocultural analysis of biblical expressions in V. I. Dal's Explanatory Dictionary of the Living Great Russian Language. It explores the impact of biblical linguistic elements on the formation of Russian national identity and cultural awareness, and the distinctiveness of V.I. Dal's method of documenting biblical expressions through the lens of everyday folk speech, proverbs, and etymological clusters. It analyses the semantic transformation of individual biblical images, their adaptation to the Russian cultural tradition and their integration into everyday language. It highlights the unique ways in which biblical expressions have become embedded in the Russian language through a long-standing spiritual tradition, emphasising their contemporary significance in maintaining connections between generations and preserving the national identity of the Russian people.
