On the issue of V.S. Solovyov's views on the Motherland, Fatherland and patriotism
The relevance of researching V.S. Solovyov's concept of patriotism stems from the fact that, in understanding his era of transition, he posed the task of shaping a positive image of the future humanity. This philosophical goal is consistent with the current global situation, and his understanding of the essence of the categories of Motherland, Fatherland, and patriotism can contribute to contemporary transformations. The analysis allows us to reach the following conclusions. The Motherland is a spiritual, sacred entity, associated with what is most dear and closest to man, the support of human existence, creating favorable conditions for his physical and spiritual existence. The ontology of the Motherland is similar to the ontology of God, but there is no identity between them. God is a more significant category; a full understanding of the Motherland is possible, according to the philosopher, only through love for God. Fatherland should be distinguished from the Motherland. The former is necessarily associated with the affirmation of the creative potential of the people to self-govern their existence, which implies the historicity of the Fatherland and its secondary role in relation to the Motherland. The Fatherland enshrines spiritual ideals and creates conditions for spiritual development. The Fatherland is distinct from the state, but the state can play a positive role in the life of the Fatherland. True patriotism lies in a well-founded love for one's own and other peoples, in the ability to uphold in one's native culture that which is universally significant and leads to spiritual perfection. National egoism and cosmopolitanism are rejected. V.S. Solovyov's ideas can form the basis of a modern concept of world transformation based on the principles of love, mutual respect, and the pursuit of a spiritual ideal.
